I have two baby turtles, i believe they are two different breeds, what do i do?

One has a red mark on the side of his head (the one I believe is a female) the other has no mark..but looks exactly like the other one (and i believe hes male) they seem to get along great..however they are still babies. annnd, i did not know they were illegal to buy..i bought them in china town. even though they are illegal im glad i took them away from that crazy lady who sold me them lol. anyways, is it safe to keep them in the same tank?

First off, babies can not be sexed until they are at least a couple of years old. The one with the red is a red eared slider. If the other one doesn't have it, it may be a yellow bellied slider. They grow big and will need alot of room. As long as there is enough room and you meet all of their housing and feeding requirements, I think they'll be fine together. Also, they are not illegal to buy. The law only pertains to selling them. So it's illegal to sell them in certain circumstances, but not illegal to buy or possess them, so you have nothing to worry about. I know, it's confusing!
